Prancing horse on steriods: Ferrari 458 Italia

After the lumpy looking F360 Modena and the Minivan-sized F430, the new 458 Italia states one thing very clearly: Ferrari is Back!

Ferrari has officially announced a new model to it’s already very desireable lineup of supercars. The new 458 Italia is set to replace the very succesful F430 Model. Launched in 2004, the F430 has proven itself to be a true road legal circuitcar. With a top speed of 196MP/H and a stunning 0-60 time of under 4 seconds, there were few cars that could match it’s performance. The F430 Scuderia, which is the road-legal version of the racecar version which is based on the road version, even upped the ante by smashing the Ferrari Enzo’s laptime at Modena’s Ferrari Test Track by an amazing 2 seconds.

The Ferrrari 458 Italia promises to raise the bar once again, with performance figures topping even those of the F430 Scuderia: A 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds is promised, while the car is expected to be propelled to a 200+ MPH topspeed by a 4.5 Litre V8 engine producing a whopping 570 BHP. The direct rival for the new F-car, Lamborghini’s Gallardo LP560-4, Has 10 less HP.

She’s got the looks

Styling-wise the car is leaps ahead of the competition as well. The large windshield is inspired by Ferrari’s Le Mans racing past. The same goes for the triple exhaust, which was used earlier on the famous F40 model. The low swung side profile of the car seems to signal a departure from the more rounded style from the F360 and F430 models.

This car is a no compromise balls-out supercar with performance numbers equalling those of the newly released Lamborghini Murcielago SV, which is twice as expensive! I for one will be placing my order for this car… as soon as someone buys my right leg on ebay.
