'First Strike' map pack for 'COD: Black Ops'

Call of Duty: “Black Ops” is a first person shooter that doesn’t need any introduction. If you’ve never heard of it, chances are you are either just plain old, or you’ve been kickin’ it cave-style like Bin Laden too much. But, for all you cave dwellers and senior citizens, here’s the 411 to refresh your memory:

Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch, published by Activision and released worldwide on November 9, 2010 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS (separate version developed by n-Space) consoles. Announced on April 30, 2010, the game is the seventh installment of the Call of Duty series, and the first to be set in the Cold War. It is the third in the series to be developed by Treyarch, and is a sequel to the developer’s Call of Duty: World at War. Source: Wikipedia.

After milions of hours of online playing time, billions of kills and enough bullets fired to fill up the (virtual) Atlantic Ocean, Treyarch have released the first map pack, containing, who would have thought, more maps. Does it extend your game experience? We think so. But for only about $xx, you can find out for yourself. Read on for the featured maps:

The DLC “First Strike” adds 5 new levels to the multiplayer part of the game.

Berlin Wall is a big map, set around CheckPoint Charlie. It features a “no man’s land” between the walls, with auto-turrets watching over it. This area is colored in red on the in game map. It features the East and West sides of the wall as spawns.

Discovery takes place in an old German base in the Arctic, presumably based around Project Nova. It features a few destroyable ice structures that bridge the gap between the two sides.

Kowloon is based around the mission Numbers, and has two ziplines for rapid movement, similar to the zipline found in the first campaign level, Operation 40.

Stadium is a map based around an empty hockey arena. Although the focus is on the stadium, the player cannot enter the hockey rink and can only enter part of it. The rest of the map is the area surrounding the stadium.

The new Zombies map features the original characters, whose appearances have changed. It has new weapons, perks, and Space Monkeys that steal players’ perks by breaking the corresponding machines. The new perks of Ascension are PhD Flopper and Stamin-Up. The map introduces Lunar Landers. New weapons are available such as the Sickle (which replaces the Regular knife and the Bowie Knife), the Gersch Device, and the Matryoshka Dolls.
