Forget Jetpack Skiing: Jetman is your new Hero

Okay, we’ll admit it: We may have been wrong with giving the jetpack skiing idea a lot of credit. Sure, doing 47 MPH up a ski-slope while sounding like a jet fighter is pretty nifty. Nevertheless, Jetman has emerged from our midst to show us that jetpacks really do belong in the sky after all. I bet you thought superheroes were all make-believe, huh?

So who is the true face behind the Jetman persona? Meet Yves Rossi, a 51 year old former Swiss Air Force veteran and current Swiss International Airlines pilot. Obviously unimpressed with both high-G flying and skydiving, he figured he’d just build a tiny plane to strap to his back.

He’s already flown this thing across the English straight in 2008, and he’s planning to risk his life in the Grand Canyon with an updated model of his suicidal creation, featuring a smaller 6,5 ft wingspan and a topseed of over 200 MPH… we’ll be keeping an eye on that!
